Google is testing new sitelink designs for Mobile Search Ads where sitelinks are listed line by line with a horizontal line on the left side. Brodie Clark spotted this change for text-based ads on mobile in Google SERP and updated through X that Google is testing different sitelink variations that could go live someday (see the post below).
This test can change how additional links appear below a sponsored ad, giving sitelinks a different visual layout. The changes have been spotted in Google mobile search results, but Google has not confirmed that it will become the standard design.
New Sitelink Design Variations
The new sitelink design is a different way of displaying multiple links below in Search Ads for Mobile.
There are different design variations seen by users who also shared their mobile search result screenshots.
Design 1: Sitelinks appear as individual lines with darker text and visual arrow lines, and have better margins on the left side, which helps separate the link more clearly from the ad content.

These new links are additional links to websites where customers can click, shown differently. Google makes it to help users directly click and land on the website or the specific product.
Design 2: There are a few more design variations seen by users in their SERP where the design is without horizontal lines.

Design 3: Also, a few ad designs combine horizontal lines with line-by-line sitelinks in darker text but also have images shown.

Google is Testing Different Sitelink Format: The Whole New Design
Google wants the product or product details to be clearer and wants its users to click and reach the product more easily so that sales and engagement always increase. Google always does testing and makes changes to keep fulfilling user requirements from advertisements.
For any online e-commerce store, having these additional links can be very beneficial to show their ads with different links using a category method.
Let’s say an online clothing store can have these types of sitelinks below its advertisement:
- Men Clothing
- New arrivals
- Sale
- Women Clothing
So users can click on any of these links instead of going directly to the landing page for the product.
What Can Be Changed after this New Sitelink Design
The new design variations clearly show that the finalized design can be listed as a link structure with bold text, and the image contribution, horizontal line, and margins are still in dilemma.
Adding more product links can add more value in the advertisement, where Google can choose the best fit with keywords and links to show in SERP.
There are more updates coming and rolling out from Google, officially announced, like Multimodal Filter.
Conclusion
User-seen design variations for ads are not confirmed by Google. But, understandably, the line-by-line links are sitelinks, not breadcrumbs. The new design of the sitelinks is placed on the left, in a line-by-line format, so we marketers can only assume and wait for the update to go live.
