Google AI Mode Connected Apps: What Changed and What It Means for SEO

In a blog titled “Connect more of your apps to Search” dated 16 July 2026, Chips Mistry, Senior Product Manager, Google Search, has revealed that Google has been partnering with certain apps to make interconnected ecosystems embedded through the Google AI Mode.

Currently, a few apps have been integrated, and a video illustration has been provided on the blog.

This fresh step has further strengthened the synergy between the user search experience and transforming the developed idea into an actionable scheme.

What Google Said?

Chips Mistry, Senior Product Manager, Google Search, has discussed that this move will connect 3rd party apps with Google AI Mode.

As per the blog, it was scheduled to be rolled out in the US in July this year.

See how it will look after its launch.

To make it simpler, here is a step-wise illustration of how it will work.

Working of Google AI Mode Connected Apps

Also, Google has informed that more apps will be connected in the future.

Make sure not to conflate this idea with the Agentic Commerce Protocols, where the AI agents help in making decisions and purchases without switching to any other app or interface.

This new strategy of Google will help you discover the idea and implement it on respective apps smoothly. No need to apply separate efforts on other apps. Just a clear flow of Idea ⇨ Execution.

The Possible Impacts

Released in 2025, Google AI mode works in a specific interface in google search page, working as a conversational assistant. But this integration will take it beyond general conversational searches.

The interconnected apps will help users merge ideas researched on Google with the specific apps. Like shifting designs suggested on Google to Canva or exporting a Google-suggested playlist to YouTube Music.

This is not the first time Google has stepped toward deep integrations. Google Search Live has also turned into a conversational interface, accepting and processing video, voice, and picture inputs.

Similarly, Google Gemini has also got space in Google Drive and Google Docs.

All this hints at making a deeply meshed ecosystem, with wider integration supporting workflows across different apps and device functions.

What Digital Markets Are Saying?

Elliot Garreffa, Co-founder & CEO of agentdiscoverability.com, has explicitly said on a LinkedIn post that Google’s move is a follow-up of what ChatGPT and Claude have already accomplished. Read what he says.

Celebrating this integration with AI mode, Anwar Haneef, GM and Head of Ecosystem at Canva, posted on LinkedIn, conveying the convenience that users will have.

Also, Fonthip Ward, a renowned SEO Consultant, applauded this integration in her LinkedIn post and said:

“Search just started acting more like an assistant than a results page.”

In a Nutshell

The Google AI Mode connected apps list will swell by integrating more applications. This again takes us to what Google has been aiming for, i.e., making the user search experience more comfortable.

As you have been observing Gemini in multiple Google apps, you can expect more integrations down the road.
